Buckingham Equine Vets are proud to deliver a high standard of clinical excellence combined with an outstanding level of client support. This is highlighted by our accreditation and award from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, our partnership with the Royal Veterinary College, and our membership of XLVets Equine.
The Practice holds the prestigious Royal College of Veterinary Surgeon’s (RCVS) Award in Client Service at the grade of ‘Outstanding‘. The Award is the highest level of recognition given to veterinary practices by the RCVS’s Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) to acknowledge where practices excel and highlight first-class standards of veterinary service. Only five equine veterinary practices in the UK hold this Award and we are honoured to be part of this elite group. We first received the award in 2018 and were again graded ‘Outstanding‘ in 2025.
Our 2025 report:
Members of staff clearly work as a close knit team, sharing information on cases effectively to ensure excellent continuity of care and client satisfaction. Clients can request specific vets and care is made to ensure follow ups are with the same vet. New vets are sometimes introduced to clients by involving them in aftercare of cases, allowing clients to build up trust and to enforce the ethos of a cohesive team working together. Feedback is taken very seriously and the practice have made changes based on client information, for example, a new phone system has been introduced, which is working well. Team members also man dedicated lines to ensure calls are dealt with efficiently. The team also host many client evenings and events, with great imagination and enthusiasm. In addition to more formal lectures, they have organised children’s events and even a bake off. The social media pages are of an extremely professional standard and are utilised to update clients on staff members, events and information.

The Practice has been recognised by our governing body, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, as an accredited equine practice in their Practice Standards Scheme. Owners of animals that use veterinary practices recognised in this scheme can be assured that the veterinary care they receive meet the stringent standards required.
Our 2022 report:
“The practice clearly are a close team who seem to work well together in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. The clinic has high clinical and clerical standards and use technology to the benefit of vets and clients, providing options for payment during visits and using QR codes to provide Cascade medicine information when required. Clinical governance is performed particularly well here, with evidence of evidence-based protocols with reflection and changes to processes when required in an open, friendly culture.”
Lizzie Barker, RCVS Practice Standards Scheme Assessor
Our 2018 report:
“This practice works closely with the RVC, London and takes students from the RVC all year round for mainly ambulatory equine training. One of the directors is a certified equine medicine specialist, and accepts referrals from other practices. All documentation was of a high standard, and the facilities were very well designed and organised. The practice was very well equipped. All members of staff that I spoke to impressed me with their obvious competence and commitment to maintaining high standards. All members of this team should be very proud of the extremely high quality of service that they provide for their patients and clients.”
